Because metallic and flexible resin patches are heat-sensitive, using the correct temperature and pressing from the rear or bottom is critical to avoid melting the metallic surface.

Heat Sensitivity Warning

Never apply direct heat to the top decorative surface of a Metflex metallic patch without a protective barrier or bottom heat source. Direct exposure to a hot upper platen can distort the metallic sheen or melt the flexible resin finish.

Heat-Seal Application Process

1. Pre-Heat Garment: Place your garment under the press for 3 to 5 seconds at  to  (–) to remove wrinkles and surface moisture. (Verify: Garment surface is flat, warm, and dry.)
2. Position the Patch: Align your Metflex patch with the adhesive side facing down onto the fabric. Secure it in place with heat-resistant tape. (Verify: Patch is straight and aligned properly.)
3. Press from Behind (Recommended): Flip the garment inside out or use a bottom-heated press. Apply low-to-medium pressure at – (–) for 10 to 15 seconds.
   • If pressing from the top: Cover the patch with a 1/8" silicone pad or thick Teflon sheet and press with light-to-medium pressure for 10 to 12 seconds.
4. Cool & Set: Allow the patch to cool completely for 1 to 2 minutes before handling or testing the edges. (Verify: Adhesive is firm and the edges do not lift when lightly tugged.)
   
   How do I wash and care for garments with Metflex patches?

• To maintain the metallic sheen, flexible structure, and adhesive bond of Metflex patches, follow these care guidelines:
• Washing: Turn the garment inside out before washing. Machine wash on a gentle or delicate cycle using cold or warm water (up to 90°F / 30°C) with a mild detergent.
• Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or harsh stain removers, as these can degrade the metallic foil finish and weaken the adhesive backing.
• Drying: Air drying or line drying is strongly recommended. If using a tumble dryer, select a low-heat or delicate setting to prevent thermal distortion of the patch.
• Ironing: Never apply a hot household iron directly to the surface of a Metflex patch. If ironing the surrounding garment is necessary, turn the garment inside out and iron from the reverse side using a low heat setting.
• Dry Cleaning: Do not dry clean garments with heat-sealed Metflex patches, as dry cleaning solvents can dissolve the heat-seal adhesive.
